Sally Hernández

(Yaiza Hernández Escobar)

Yaiza Hernández Escobar, known by her artistic name Sally Hernández,  is a young artist based in Madrid, Spain. Through her expression with diverse mediums and forms of art (visual, audiovisual, and performative), she pretends to raise awareness concerning psychological abuse and its consequences, mainly centered on gender violence and defying social norms and stereotypes.

Her intake in this issue is done through various perspectives, the power within all types of woman's bodies, the oppression, liberty, and strength is investigated through the broken, the intruded. The identity is investigated through the reflection and the pain through the permanence, the fluid, and the semi-transparent shapes with epoxy resin altered by cutting and vibrant dark colors. All of this is, done through autobiographical experiences, digging up the past through her relationships, ancestors, and family.

She has been able to learn about various materials that inspire her work from being an artist assistant to Andrés Izquierdo with a prestigious curriculum from Intersticio Gallery.
